    Default Plans??

I'm considering buying the $97 phone from Amazon's recently posted deal: http://www.amazon.com/T-Mobile-G1-Ph.../dp/B001JT1U1E

But I'm wondering, can you switch your plan after you sign a 2 year contract or no? The lowest plan listed on Amazon is the $40 / 600 minute one, but I'd like the $30 / 300 minute one:

Can you switch your plan or do they lock you into the plan you sign up with?

I can't give you any advice, becuase you'll be the first person I know to get one off of Amazon.

    Wow, good find.

Another question for G1 users... I thought it said 400 text's a month for the $25 data plan, but it says email too... Is that right?? T-Mobile keeps track of how many emails you get??

    Awesome!

One more question: are there any hidden other charges with T-Mobile? Like with Verizon, I'm forced to pay for "insurance". And taxes haha...

Oooh, one more... Has anyone been able to successfully port their number over? I'm coming from Verizon and I'd like to keep my number.

I called T-Mobile and they said you cannot do it since it's through Amazon. Then I called Amazon's call center and they said you CAN... What the hell... Haha

When I originally moved from AT&T/Cingular to TMobile they ported my number over without issue. I don't see why purchasing a phone/contract from Amazon would prevent your number from being switched over, but it may be something that you have to do after buying the phone/contract.
