I'm trying to figure out a way to make a shortcut or maybe even a hotkey on my eeepc (win xp) that will turn this feature on and off with a push of a button, any ideas?
How to Disable Notebook Computer to Stand By or Hibernate on Closing Lid in Windows XP
Log on to your computer as an administrator. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Performance and Maintenance.
Click Power Options.
Click Advanced tab.
Under “Power buttons” section, select Do nothing from drop down menu for When I close the lid on my portable computer option.Click OK button.
sorry about being vague, i don't mean remotely. i mean like an icon on my desktop or using one of my "hotkeys" to perform this action.
the hotkeys are buttons that you can program their function to, i just don't know how to make it an action like that.
yeah somebody actually brought it up at the eeepc forum i go to, and i just thought i'd see if anybody here has any ideas... cause it could be pretty useful.
go to Microsoft search for ms scripter, its a free ad on for windows, then once installed you will make a script of that procedure that you posted and save it. ms scripts makes a icon for you, then once you have the icon you can give it a hot key to start.
you sir, may be a genius, that sounds exactly like what i was looking for!
thank you. I went ahead and put that up on the other forum, i'm sure he'll appreciate it whoever he is
