Default How many virtual lighters does one need?

So with the app store for the iPhone they have no less than 10 virtual lighters, some free some $9.99. The official Zippo one is free for christ sakes. The app store is quickly becoming crap. How many basic twitter clients are there?

And another thing that erks my chain is the very extensive collection of bible apps. Why do we need a million of the same application. The app store has 9 completely useless apps that keep you entertained for less than one minute than they have usefull apps that cost more than a dvd (that is not on sale).

You know if you put together a catalog of every single program ever made for Windows you'd probably find the same thing It's even worse because developing apps for the iPhone is an untapped market and thus a fad (unfortunately this will probably be true of Android in the near future too).

I'm afraid the same may happen to Androids market. Within couple months I expect the market to be full of useless apps that people created to test their skills. We'll have to wait for others to give a try and rate them.
I do look forward to see what's cooking in people's heads.

Surprised to read that apple is allowing so much junk in their store.

There will be a review section for each G1 app, correct? Let's hope people use this feature honestly. It will save everyone a lot of time, for sure! Also, if certain apps are receiving an abundance of low ratings, they should be removed from the store, don'tcha think?

There will be yes. And in our own Android Market you will be able to write reviews as well as rate and download the applications. I will also cover as many apps as I possibly can for everyone.

I suggest that active users of the forum who are graded with points based on their posts should be considered as potential help with at least feedbacks - you could delegate some of the easy stuff to them...

    Just my thought

As mentioned, the iPhone app store has accumulated a lot of junk over the past few months, but keep in mind that there is room for multiple apps that do the same thing. People like to have options and find certain ones better than others, but everyone has their own preferences. You could have two twitter apps, one with a really cool interface and the other that has a few extra features. They are both very ligitimage apps, but serve different purposes.

I've never been the biggest fa of paying for programs. For my PC, I like to find the free alternatives for many programs, but there are times when developers get it right and I am willing to lay down hard cold cash for an app that gets it right.

Kepp in mind that in order to keep the site relevant we all ahve to be vocal about the apps we like and the ones we don't, but we have to do it in the right place. If we simply write a review of the app up on a blog of post it in a forum, the app might get more downloads, but it's rating will stay constant on the Marketplace. Rate the app in the Marketplace and the good ones will rise tothe top and all those stupid apps that are created that don't offer much to the user will sink to the bottom, hopfully being lost for all eternity.
