Why change it, if it recognizes the original name?
Well I just converted a movie to watch on my G1. However, whenever I try to rename the movie, the video player for G1 lists my movie as the old title. How do I fix this?
Why change it, if it recognizes the original name?

It's just that it kind of bothers me with such a long rediculous name, hah.
Oh ok, you're trying to shorten the title...
I'm sure someone will come by and help you out

Ummm, long press in Astro or File Manager on the file will give you the option. Oh and make the Video Player repopulate your media list. In Cinema, it's quite easy to do this. Maybe not in Video Player.
i noticed the same in Video Player as well. it's a limitation of the player. i renamed the file via Astro (which via Astro displayed as test.MP4, while via Video Player it displayed as Episode 12 - Stimutacs.avi.MP4) to sealab2021_stimutacs.mp4 and it shows this way in Windows explorer and via Astro, but via Video Player, it still reads as Episode 12 - Stimutacs.avi.MP4.
that's the .MP4's tag.if your file is an .MP4 like mine, you can just "Open With" iTunes, right-click the file (once imported/processed) and choose "Get Info." this allows you to edit the file's actual ID/tag info.
the native Video Player should support renaming/editing of the file. i can't imagine it won't forever...
Ahh I see thank you very much and yes my file is an .MP4 file. Is there a way to rename the .MP4 tag without itunes?

My apologies if this was a dead thread. I stumbled across it looking for the same thing.
This thread gave me the idea to try Winamp to edit the MP4 tags. It works. Right click on the file in the playlist and "View File Info." Just for reference, I am using Winamp 5.33.
I had reencoded a video that you could hardly hear the volume. I kept boosting the volume and ended up with a tag that showed the filename as "filename.mp4.mp4.mp4.mp4."
