google chrome os???????????

ok so i just got my new computer yesterday and it was a choice between mac or pc so i went with pc and im using windows 7. I really like it so far its really good and stable and super easy to use but im gonna ditch windows when google chrome os comes out. It suppose to be the fastest and easiest os to use to date and it runs on linux kernal but its builtl by the chrome team. Do you think that its gonna be good enough to compete with windows 7 and mac os because when it comes out im ditching windows and going to chrome os. Its also gonna be viruse free so now crashing and stupid viruses. What do you guys think?

I think it depends on what kind of applications you use daily. I use Linux daily before I switched to Mac, and found many open source applications and some linux commercial apps covers all my needs (except for Photoshop, GIMP is great but does not have all the tools I need)

If you think Linux apps satisfied your daily computing need, heck why not

its suppose to just run on linux kernel but its gonna be its own os like windows or mac.

if all you do with a computer is browse the web, watch YouTube and check email, then Chrome will be great. You can use the Google Apps for word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

If you want to play any PC games (not just flash games), do photo or video editing, watch DVD/BluRay, etc. then you are going to need a full OS that has applications written for specific these tasks.

Also- if you have an iPod/iPhone, you will probably want an OS that can run iTunes (i.e. Windows or MacOS) so you can sync your device to your music collection.

Chrome OS is primarily designed with net-books in mind. If you have just spent a chunk of cash on a new shiny PC (I'm going to assume it's of a decent spec, high end gfx card etc) then why put Chrome on it when it's unlikely to support even the most basic of programs, and certainly not support graphic-heavy games?

If you want a Chrome box, just grab an old PC or laptop and run it on that.
