Question Extending contract on a family plan

I'm on a family plan of 3 lines. I pre-ordered my G1 and extended my contract. How is that going to affect my family plan? Does that mean that the entire family plan just got extended by 2 years? In that case, shouldn't I be eligible to get 2 new phones for the other lines? Alternatively, would it just be my line being extended by 2 years, and the other 2 lines staying the same? Help?

you will only be extending the contract on your line. On the other 2 lines you will still be able to order the g1 or discontinue service (assuming that their contracts are already up)

I have the exact situation going on over here. All three lines will get extended. You should have an upgrade for all three lines, but the upgrades have to be done by each person. So you just upgraded the phone on your line but the other two people have the option to do so down the line if they want. Just keep in mind the contract will get extended again when/if they decide to upgrade.

wait your saying that if he orders a g1, extending his contract 2 years, the contracts on the other 2 lines will be extended too?

Yup, unfortunately that's how it works.

This thread is incorrect. A device upgrade on a family plan line extends ONLY that line's contract. I just checked, and my contract is extended until Sept. 23, 2010, and my wife's line contract is about to expire. Anyone who tells you different is mis-informed.

I just got off the phone with Tmo and she told me that contract extension is for the individual line that you ordered the G1 for. You can get a G1 for each line you have and price would depend on length of service you've had with each line.

    No.

I am in the EXACT same situation as the OP. Only my line will get extended for a further two years, the other two will remain untouched and will expire whenever they do.

    Don't worry!
