yeah, high quality over wifi. it does this by the amount of service you have.

well they compress it to limit bandwith. its amazing quality on wifi tho so i never look at it on 3g

you gotta understand that "3g" is a range of speeds, and like others have said, the YouTube app will scale the video quality according to your measured bandwidth. Try downloading the Speedtest app and compare your upstream/downstream performance on EDGE, 3G and WiFi. I think you'll find that your 3G speeds are closer to your EDGE speeds than they are WiFI . . . thus, the "lack" of 3G quality.

I tested youtube between G1 and iphone over wifi. Youtube on G1 loads 3 seconds faster than iphone
