We all know now that our beloved G1 is not everything we would have wished it to be; although great, it simply lacks certain core functions we expected to be made available sooner, as well as has some features that are lacking in usefulness.

With Google working on major build changes, but not pointing at whether or not this is something that the G1 will truly take advantage of, many G1 users are starting to wonder what their next hardware move will be; will they stick with their G1 until they get another upgrade via contract, or will they buy a new device when ti comes out based on just wanting the coolest of the cool.

We already know of so many great phones coming out, a couple are bound to blow us away - but will they be worth burning the $400 on?

Let me know what you are going to do.

I didn't vote since none of the options pertain to me. However if another device comes out which has all of the good stuff that the G1 has without the squeaks and obvious design flaws, and made with nice materials (c'mon Sony!) then I'll buy it no matter the price.

If nothing like that comes out, I'm perfectly happy with the G1 and will be even more so when some future updates come out for it. And yes, cupcake will make it onto the G1. They would have a real hard time doing updates on the G1 in the future without it since it's in the main trunk of the repository.

Since you ar einto the subversion and everything I'll assume you might be able to answer this for me gBot...

Is the G1 capable of stereo bluetooth hardware wise? Will I be able to stream via bluetooth when cupcake drops.

Also would you like me to add another option to the voting?

I lucked out when I got my g1, i signed up for a 2 year contract to get the discounted price, but the contract didn't get added for some reason, I'm still on a month-to-month plan. If something comes along that blows the g1 away, i can go for it.

From what I have read and researched the G1 supports stereo bluetooth and just is missing the API and code to allow it to take advantage of the hardware.

Bluetook API's and functionality was left out of the first Android release due to time constraints.

I am confident that all of the "Cupcake" feature updates will eventually make it onto the G1. It is just a matter of time.

Even after cupcake, newer updates will add features that other devices can not do. I am stuck with this G1 for 2years and I'm going to try to make the best of it. It's growing everyday and it won't stop.

i'm currently pleased with the G1, and its current version of android (rc30), so i wouldnt mind waiting 2 years to purchase a future android device.

part of me says that the G1 keyboard wont last that long though! hopefully future on-screen keyboards can help the longevity

Unlike the goobermint, I'm not just printing money over here, LOL, so I hope to make my G1, princess that she is, last the two years of my contract.
