Will AT&T ever get Android?

Will AT&T ever get Android, if so when and any ideas what?

You have to remember that they could have gotten the HTC Hero and they chose not to. At&t also has one golden egg and its the iPhone. They pay millions for the exclusivity of the iPhone and they want to make it worth it so why pick up a competing phone? Yes i know they do have the BlackBerry but if you think that the BlackBerry in any way competes with the iPhone or G1 you might want to rethink your argument. I am thinking from simply an accountant, money, perspective. The iPhone costs they so much a year that they want to get as much as they can for it. Sadly the iPhone is restricted by At&t and Apple so that many things do not work at 100%. The iPhone is simply about looks and saying i am cool. I am currently on a macbook so i am not a hater. The iPhone simply lacks A LOT of features, MMS for example, and others like non-removable battery. The iPhone plan is crazy expensive too and you do not even get to call anyone for free like, MyFavs or MyCircle, so its just crazy and yet its the only "GREAT: phone they have so people pay for it and At&t wants its money so i figure you will not see a competing phone on there service until OTHER companies get the iPhone. Which could possibly happen though b/c the SEC and other regulatory groups are starting to really look into the way Cellular companies are getting crazy deals with phone manufactures and the ridiculous amounts we pay per month.

Spoon, you do realize, I'm using my G1 on AT&T's network right now, and I don't use MyCircle or MyFavs.. I don't miss them at all.

I have MMS (the iPhone doesn't haven't even compatibility for MMS .. I think)..

Anyway, .. the only way I'm able to get on AT&T's Network is because I have a Developer G1, and I know the AT&T A.P.N info.

Anyone that wants to can use either of the T-Mobile Android phones on AT&T they are both GSM networks. However unless you have a Rodgers of Canada device you will not be able to have 3g.

Yes it common knowledge that the iPhone does have MMS but At&t turned it off specifically b/c they said their network would probably crash with the added data being moved.

Also I understand that you can live without "MyCircle and MyFavs" but not everyone lives somewhere that has many people on At&t. I live in Ohio and in our county we do not even have At&t. Everyone uses Alltel or Verizon and no Alltel is not Verizon here. They were not allowed to merge in our area b/c it would be a monopoly. The nearest At&t specific cell tower is more than 50 miles from our county. So it would be IMPOSSIBLE to not have free calling to people.

Anyone can use the G1 on At&t network by purchasing the unbranded ones. Or you can root and use it but you do not have 3G if its a T-mo rooter version.
