Default where's my contracts? How do I delete stuff all the sd like songs?

I put my exsisting sim card with all my contracts but they didn't show up on my g1. So what's up with that? Also I see that there is preloaded songs on it but I don't like any of them. So where do go to delete them? One more thing has anyone tried the app call shop savvy? I tried to scan a barcodr but none of them worked . Has anyone got one to work? Thanks

go to your contacts, press menu, press settings, press sim contacts importer. it will read the contacts you have saved on your sim card and import them into the phone. If you have no contacts on your sim, place your sim in your old phone and move all your contacts to your sim card then place the sim back in your G1 and repeat these steps listed above. I did get the barcode scanner to work on a 20oz Sunkist sode bottle.

Addt'l note: I haven't found a way to get the G1 to read the contacts right off the sim by default. You have to copy them to the device. Please be advised copying the contacts from the DEVICE TO THE SIM is not supported by the device, so if you have to add a new contact, you may want to also keep that contact written down somewhere in case something happens to the device.

If something were to happen to the phone you should be able to just log into your gmail account from a computer to view your contacts

It should be noted that the SIM card has very limited capacity for contact storage - only room for one phone number, I don't think it has a field for e-mail addresses, etc - so a lot of the information that might be in your Blackberry's (or other device's) address book won't easily move to your G1 using this technique.

(I'm still searching for a better solution myself or I'd post it here. Suspect I may have to sync with Outlook, export to csv, and then import into Gmail.)

That's what I did with my Samsung T809, but without Outlook. I used Samsung's sync software, exported my contact as a .csv and imported into Gmail. The problem that I came across, is that the .csv's columns didn't match up.

I had to export a fake contact from Gmail and adjust my original .csv so that it was in Gmail's format.

I didn't like the songs either. I only found a way to delete them one by one:
Go to Music>Songs and then long press and pick delete from the pop up menu.

You can also plug your G1 into your PC with the included data cable and browse the memory card that way.

I popped out the memory card and put it in my memory card reader connected to my PC (had a micro SD slot) and deleted them all that way.

ETA: That is in fact what I had to do. It should work just the same with Outlook Express. I'm exporting from a Blackberry 8700g. Imported *basically* okay from the CSV into Gmail but there's an error - if the contact doesn't have anything in the last name field, Gmail only imports the phone number, nothing else. Annoying. I'm fixing that in the CSV in Excel. After that, importing to Gmail and syncing to the G1 works fine.

    That's exactly what I'm doing.
