having root means that when they turn off your cable/internet for non payment ( i got mine turned off today , just got home , just found out ) , you still have pretty quick internet from which you could watch many different movies , tv shows , etc or just surf the web via tethering .( wireless or through usb ) im tethering wireless

technically , im wired ......
im plugged into my laptop charging my phone while i'm wirelessly tethered . ( wirelessly ????? is that right ? i'll just google it )
