Default Useful and Helpful Links for your Android Phone (Look here first)

Alright, most of us here at Android Community are tired of answering the same questions over and over again. There are people who just WILL NOT use the search button.
So I took time out of my busy schedule to write a list of questions and solutions for you guys here. Maybe this will benefit all of us and will answer many of the questions you guys have about your G1s.

    Battery -
Battery not lasting through the day.
    Solution: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...ry-life-10091/

    AOL Instant Messaging (AIM)
We all know how the stock IM programs suck on the G1. Thankfully we have an App called Hello AIM! Download from the Android Market.
    Review: http://www.androidapps.com/t/hello-aim

Virtual Keyboard, On Screen Keyboard (VK)
Android currently does not have an onscreen keyboard. With a Over The Air update, Android will have a virtual software, which should happen sometime in the first quarter of 2009. But there are several other apps that come with their virtual keyboard.

    T-Mobile Sidekick V.S T-Mobile G1
Here we go again, those uncertain people who just cannot make up their mind. Read and decide for yourself. http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...uestions-6832/

    Should I root my G1?
No! If you don’t know what root is or don’t know what it does, then no! But then again for your Curious George’s out there…
    What is Root? - http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...is-root-10406/
If you have RC30, then you can downgrade and install RC29 and then install an modded version of RC30 which will give you root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480

I want to unlock my Brand New G1...
OK, you have another service provider other than T-Mobile and just brought the Consumer version of the phone and can't activate without getting through the activation screen.
    Solution: http://www.unlock-tmobileg1.com/procedures/activate.php

Can not Mount G1 onto Computer (Windows Only)

Charging the Phone On the Go
Alright, this is a perfect device for people who need extra juice, just when they're not around any phone chargers... This is a portable charging device from Motorola... Heres the thread... you can probably find one of ebay for about $8 bucks.

    Wireless Tethering G1 (Root ONLY)

Alright this is will only work will Rooted phones..
What this does is, it actually allows you to use your phones internet on your laptop
    Have fun!

    PUK Locked?
If your sim is locked, and can't seem to enter the code in, give this a try.

Installing The HTC Magic ROM Onto The G1
Here it is, you can install the HTC Magic's Android Rom onto your G1. Root needed!

    Increase Volume on G1 (Ringer)
The G1 had* a small annoying problem, when the phone was in your pocket, you'd barely hear it ring, or sometimes it won't vibrate hard enough. Thanks to Meltus from XDA, we've now have a way to increase the volume thorugh ADP or Terminal Emulator to avoid missing those important calls ever again.

One Click Root (Gaining Root Access on Cupcake 1.5 firmwares) *Also Works with MyTouch3G*

Having Root access does wonders, if you don't know what Root is, do a little research and then come back and use this thread and application to gain root access on your phone. The best part is, you don't need to flash down to RC29 (for G1 users) and for MyTouch and Magic users, its so much easier saving you headaces.

    Video Tutorial. http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news...-donut-crumbs/

    Compcache, Backswap and Linux-Swap instructions.
If you're rooted and you're using Cyanogen's builds, then you already have Compcache enabled, but if you want to enable Backswapping with Compcache then follow this thread. But before you go on, you must have 3 partitions on your sdcard,
Heres the link for creating 3 partitions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534714
And after that, use this http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...serinit-22465/
It's pretty easy, but again if you have any questions, don't hesitate to post a question in THAT THREAD.

Hello all, this is a video tutorial on how to go from your original rc30 back down to rc29 and go back up to rooted jf rc30 v1.31. I hope this video will show you how easy it is to do this and have some of you who are on the fence to take the jump!

Nice Job! This Should Be Like Headlined.
