It works out pretty close for me. Right now, it's little cheaper ($10/mo) to stay with a grandfathered Unlimited Family Loyalty plan with one added line and data + 400 text added to my line. IOW, I have 3 unlimited lines, but no text or data on 2 of those.

If later I need to add data on a second line, then it'll be a little cheaper ($20/mo) to go to the Unlimited Family Even More + plan with a added line. I'll give up the possibility of a subsidized phone, but really don't care.
