The application that you linked to is the Hotspot locator - it helps you find a T-mobile hotspot to be unable to connect to. What you posted about is the "hotspot connect". These are different applications.
(Posted to XDA Dev, reposting here - we know some us have areas we go to without 3G and we could use a TMO Hotspot - The Starbucks ones STILL do work but follow these steps - THAT MEANS DON'T CONNECT TO THE AT&T HOTSPOT! )
Just Tried to use the T-Mobile Hotspot Connect on a Haykuro 1.5 build and it works fine, some items to keep in mind;
I used one of the links to download from T-Mobile forums; if anyone here cannot find it, I can put it on a rapidshare site on demand (PM me) - IT IS NO LONGER ON THE MARKET! This link worked for me: Open it from your phone and run Package Installer: http://tinyurl.com/dzdrae
After installing the T-Mobile Hotspot connect if you cannot get it to work then do the following when at a T-Mobile Hotspot (US only) location:
1) Installed Advanced Task Manager, run the app
2) Under Processes checkmark "T-Mobile Hotspot" and click End
3) Under Applications click, "T-Mobile Hotspot" and select End Task
4) Click Home, go to your applications and "Hotspot Locator"
You should then have a functioning connection.
Also ensure that T-Mobile, TMOHS and AT&T Wifi Networks (Starbucks locations) are NOT remembered networks (long press and select Forget Network).
The T-Mobile app will WiFi SIM authentication on TMOHS so you DO NOT want to be connected to the AT&T or TMOBILE WiFi Networks; IF YOU GET A Web browser login page then you did NOT listen to these steps, ensure you have T-Mobile, AT&T and TMOHS as "Forgotten networks"
I just tried this at 4 different Starbucks, and ALL got the Hotspot Connected pop up on the status bar; at the latter two locations I had to follow my steps 1-4 above to get it to work; but it didn't need a reboot.
Questions?
