An Update.
The BB data plans definitely work technically with the G1, however, TMobile are monitoring the device types and turning off service when they discover a non RIM device on a BB data plan.

Case in point.
I took my TMobile BB sim card out of my Blackberry and put it into my activated TMobile G1. The G1 worked great, full browsing etc, for about 4 hours!

Suddenly, I was getting a message about an incompatible device for the data plan and an invitation to upgrade my data plan!

I put the SIM card back in my Blackberry.

I have since unlocked the G1 and put in a ATT 'Pay as You go' sim card.
G1 works correctly. I have enabled the WIFI on the G1 so even though it has a ATT Pay as you go sim card, any data browsing happens over the WIFI and is not charged to the SIM card.
