Default T-Mobile Android-G1 have any chance to capture the AT&T Mac OS X-Iphone crowd?

I saw this at another forum so I decided to copy and paste it here with additional options to the poll.

Since the phone might come out as soon as October 1, this poll will only last for 10 days.

    (copy and paste... )

I was thinking about how well the Android G1 will appeal to the T-Mobile customers and the iphone-hyped AT&T/Apple customers. The iphone seems to have a lot of apps, and functionality and more importantly AT&T, which makes me question whether or not T-Mobile/Google/HTC can compete and hype up the device enough to really steal the iphone hype and crowd.

Well i will say this, G1? IMHO it will attract more of the tech geeks but not the mainstream/loyal customers. Now, future devices? Most definitely. The G1 is not as good looking device/sexy or "ground breaking" as the iphone is/was, i know Android will blow Apples OS out of the water with just having the benefit of being an open OS and we all know there will be some crazy and innovative apps coming out. But to answer the question, yes it will attract "some" of Apples customers, minimal at best, but in the future with sexier and sleeker devices yes ppl will take notice and will start to migrate BTW one more thing, T-Mo's 3G band will not be compatible with no other US carrier, no one will be buying the G1 to use it with their carriers.

...unless Sprint releases their rumored Android phone this fall.

I can still see some ppl being pi$$ed on ATT for ripping them off where you can't even change the battery yourself if needed but pay about $100 to have it replaced...
Second thing is - they are locked with 2 year plans and contracts - therefore there will not be much of a stealing ATT customers for at least 1.5+ years ...

Well, they will definitely have the chance to check the Android out before they buy it... Good thing about it will be - sooner or later - iPhone will go down due to Android handsets market... I can see WM actually surviving a little bit longer - but iPhone --- that's only one device with that OS - imagine haveing 15 different models to choose from and only one iPhone - it is a no brainer - Android based device will be the pick

I think it's a gorgeous phone with lots of amazing technology under the hood...I have been a Mac user for 5 years now, switching away from PC after my college computer had to be formatted every month...I loooooove the iPhone, but dislike certain things about it, and this phone has more than sparked my interest...the touch technology is great on the iPhone, but for a keyboard, it's almost a terrible idea...I have typed on them before and my wife has an iPod touch that I have typed on, and it is really a pain in the neck! the real keyboard on this phone really sealed the deal for me...that and the more affordable rate plans with T-Mobile instead of the popularity price gouging and terrible customer support of AT&T
