Default Stereo BT Headset recommendation for Android?

Now that some of us have cupcake for our Android, and the rest soon will, the one feature I've REALLY been waiting for is stereo bluetooth.

Can any of you tell me which headsets seem to work well with the G1, or for that matter, if any don't work well and I should avoid 'em?

Ready to go get a headset this weekend. Any input greatly appreciated!

I'm a huge fan of the Motorola S9's. Been using for years and now am using them with my G1. They do stereo bluetooth as well as handsfree.

The older model is the S9 and newer is S9-HD. Basically the same device but the HD has SRS WOW sound processing tech. Both sound great.

You can find the S9 on Ebay for $30 shipping included.

S9-HD is about $70 on Ebay and $99 @ Best Buy.

I just bought this one a few weeks back:

Plantronics Voyager 855. It's my third Plantronics headset. My last one was awesome (I'm quite pleased w/ Plantronics), but I was really looking forward to bluetooth stereo. I purchased this one on ebay for roughly $50. Sound quality during phone use is crystal clear, no complaints from the other end either. I'm waiting for the android 1.5 OTA update...when I get it, I'll reply with my thoughts. I liked the way the other ear piece was connected by a small cord, instead of the hard, one piece stereo headsets from Motorola.

For the price though, I figured it was worth it.

    Ciao,

    R.

    Yup.

Simply pair them to your G1, launch music player and you should be good to go!

Just purchased a pair of Sony Ericsson Stereo Bluetooth headsets, charging right now, if anyone is interested, I'll post how well they work with the G1 after trying them out!

These headphones are amazing, in how small and compact they are! Two ear buds, short cord connecting them, and a small (and I mean SMALL) housing contained within the cord. They really are no heavier or larger then standard corded headphones, but without the need to plug them into your phone/mp3 player!

    Cool it works.

I have this BT adapter that allows me to use any headset via bluetooth.

I bought a pair of these as well and they are pretty great. The sound quality is quite good and the size and convenience are pretty impossible to beat. They're not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but so far I believe they're worth the money.

The problem is that A2DP doesn't seem to work all that well yet on Android 1.5, or at least that seems to be the experience of a lot of the folks on XDA using a variety of stereo headphone setups.

There's a clipping/skipping/cutting-out problem that seems to be persistent, almost to the point of making it not usable at all (but not quite). I've had the best luck by rebooting the phone without starting any apps and then pairing the headphones to it and starting music without messing with anything. If I even pause the playback with the button on the headphone mic the signal will start cutting out horribly.

Trying to use the button on the headphone mic for just about anything other than pairing, turning the headphones on, starting music and turning them off seems to be hopeless so far. The phone sometimes thinks it's still paired/connected even when the headphones are off. Sometimes it'll drop the phone or media profile in the options but keep the other one and sometimes it'll show not connected while I'm actually listening to music through them. I've tried A2DP with Haykuro's, Dude's, JF's and HTC's 1.5 builds with similar results, so I don't think the problems are confined to any one build or kernel (although I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the T-Mo OTA will show some improvement?).

Oddly, the signal is great if I'm actually using the phone. It only starts cutting out when I want to put the phone in my pocket or otherwise let it go into sleep mode AND make any contact with the screen (if I leave it sitting on a desk or hold it in my hand it's a lot less likely to start cutting out). I'm pretty sure there will be a software fix for this at some point, but I don't have the foggiest idea what it might involve.

For now, the cutting out problem is not so annoying that I'm not using them. I'm still so tickled as to be able to listen to music wirelessly that I put up with the, shall we say, idiosyncratic behavior.

What's that called? I've been looking for one like that for ages so I can use my nice Shure earphones.
