i believe it's like the HTC Touch
In the speaker there will be a light blinking green when you have a notification while in the phone is in stand by mode.
I could be wrong on the color of the light, but i read it in the manual
Is there some kind of status light that blinks while the G1 is sleeping to let you know that you have a new email, IM, text, etc? I watched a lot of youtube videos, but I've never seen a blinking light on the phone (of course, it's usually because the device is never asleep - it is always being used...lol).
The Lord is my strength and my redeemer...

i didn't see it either, most htc products have some lights going whether it be the Wing or the Dash, i use both, however if im asleep what does the lights mean anyway??????? ll im doing is dreaming about my DREAM
This comes from page 11 of the User ManualThere is an LED light in the speaker that provides a status or activity indication.
• Solid green - Battery is fully charged (while connected to power adapter).
• Solid red - Battery is charging.
• Flashing red - Battery is low. Connect to charger!
• Flashing green - You have a pending notification.
The indicators are listed in order of priority. This means, for example, that if your phone is connected
to a power adapter, the LED will be solid red and not switch to a flashing green light even if there is
a pending notification.

I hope we can turn battery status indications off if we want to. I honestly have no use for them. With my BlackBerry, I always look at the indicator on the screen for a precise level of battery remaining. If I have it plugged in, I would also look at the indicator to see if there's that lightning symbol. This way, if the BlackBerry emits any LED light at all, I'd know that there's a notification pending.
Looks like this is pretty much a dead issue, but since it’s Monday after a holiday weekend I thought I’d dig this horse up for one more round of lashings.
It’s been referenced that the LED status indicator functions are prioritized and are not changeable, but it would be nice if we could assign the order, add conditions or even assign colors to the various conditions. (The BB Pearl trackball and LED indicator had seven or so colors available when adjusted with the ColorBall app).
I’m not sure why the ‘it’s charging/it’s charged’ indicators are the top priority – If I have it plugged in, I know it’s doing one of those two things – I’m certainly no genius, but if I get only one indicator, it’s number one priority doesn’t need to be to tell me the phone is plugged in – I’m okay looking at the screen to see if the lightning bolt on the battery is there.
Anyone think there might be either an update or an app that would unlock these assignments?
Just looking for opinion to see if I’m the only one bugged by this function.
I love that the status light blinks green when I get a text message or email, the only time the status light annoys me is when it's charging, it doesn't flash to show a new notification, the battery charging indicator takes priority when it's plugged in. Otherwise it works great.
