Of course they will have difficulty distributing apps in the marketplace with multitouch, but look at how many apps people have developed for even Windows Mobile and distributed, if you go to xda-dev or modaco or other sites like that. People can develop good programs and distribute them on websites like this one and apple can't do anything about it. Theoretically they could thread android community, but as long as the programs aren't hosted here then they even can't get in trouble.

Anyway, I'm all for such apps being distributed independently, free of any legal "hassles".

I'm sure there will be a way to install them without the marketplace.

I don't know if multi-touch is a feature available to all touch-screens of this type. If it isn't, I think they added it just so someone can incorporate some multi-touch features.

So we're pretty much never gonna have any multi touch features since its all taken by apple. I don't understand how they could prevent android from any kind of multi touch capabilities.

there is no need to "enable" the multi-touch feature of the phone... its all hardware based, and google chose not to develop an app that took advantage of it...

its a capacitive touch screen, compared to the older touch screens which typically did not have dedicated hardware to analyze touches and touch gestures...

apples "pending" patents... i'm sure there will eventually be legal action taken on this due to them not being the original "inventors," but we'll see, its all a paper war

thats what patents are for, without patents are economy would be in chaos... thats like saying that the music industry doesn't have the right to sue you for illegally distributing music that they created
