The 2nd video also confirms that the screen on the G1 is multi-touch capable like the iPhone for "gestures".

I thought I read that the hardware couldn't support multi-touch.

Nope, one of the T-mobile (Desmond Smith) guys says it is multi-touch capable but is not enabled out of the box.

Cool vids. The guy confirmed that the hardware supports it, but said it's an "IP limitation". In other words: "Apple will sue our Android balls off".

Hopefully people will throw caution to the wind. I won't deny multi-touch is super sweet.

Well if they use the word "gestures" but it's not like Apple coined "multi-touch" or whatever you want to call it.

Actually, yes, they have patents pending on pretty much every aspect of multi-touch in the iphone.

On the iPhone...... I would expect some creative minds to get around that.

I'm sure most developers won't care about the patents, and if tons of people make apps for android that use the multi-touch, then apple can't just sue them all.

But since those apps will be hosted on the Android Marketplace, Apple can definitely send CND letters to Google/T-Mobile to have those apps taken down

Anyway, I'm all for such apps being distributed independently, free of any legal "hassles".
