i did a hard reset with my phone and couldnt log into the gmail account during the phone setup so i ended up having to use a friends sim with 3g luckily he was with me

but i wanted to root my phone tonight but i saw some videos where the guy had to re-setup his phone

3g isn't required for rooting or for registering the phone.

If you flashed back to RC29 to start the rooting process, you can force the wifi setup with an ADB command. So you don't even need a data plan. Actually, you don't even need a SIM, but we don't have to get into that

    Negative.

Back to unroofted RC29, then to rooted RC30, then the JF's RC33.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

It looks like I'll be rooting my phone soon. If cupcake comes out and it doesnt have multi touch then I'll be switching over. This rumor of Google not wanting to do it due to a possible Apple lawsuit has me pissed the **** off.
