    Exclamation Rogers Dream battery life?

I just picked up my HTC Dream from Rogers a few days ago and I've been setting up the phone. I just noticed something disturbing though... my battery life sucks!

Yesterday I got less than 12 hours of standby on this phone until it shut itself off. I do admit that I have bluetooth and wifi running and I did do some downloading. I was going to just accept that the battery life on this phone was not what I was exepcting until...

This mornng, the Dream had been plugged into the USB charger all night. Within 15 minutes of unplugging from the charger my battery is showing 48%. It's been an hour and the battery is showing 46% now.

Any idea what is going on? Does it sound like a defective phone?

Welcome to dream/g1 ownership, I get about 5 hours of usage u might wanna get an extended battery but it makes your phone 5mm bigger. The good news is it makes your phone usable http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...battery-18439/

Going from fully charged to under 50% in NOT right... something's wrong with your phone, if that keeps happening.

That being said, yeah, battery life on the Dream s*cks... I had one for almost a year, and it would generally last me until 3-4pm.

One thing to keep in mind, WiFi drains your battery FAST! One thing to keep on HAND... a spare charger in your car, if you can! Or, get a second battery and keep it nearby.

Great phone, other then that major drag. (well, that and lack of memory to store numerous apps)

I used to always keep 2 batteries plus stay tether by usb to a computer, some people claim to get more than a day, I never got longer than 9 hrs of light use. Its possible that its your battery.

Since WiFi is such a drain, is it possible to connect the USB cable to the phone and connect through the PC's network connection?

not that i know of, 3g is just as bad as wifi, the main thing is the data sync, that drains the most

I got the Andida 1600mah battery from ebay seller obo_hk at the same time as I got the 1.6 update, so I don't know how much comes from what, but I leave wifi on, GPS on and I use my phone fairly frequently all throughout the day and battery life has been outstanding, I usually don't even get out of the green before I go to bed. Plus with the Andida battery, you don't have to use a god awful extended back.

    Drat!

Why did that seller NOT show up when I was searching eBay half an hour ago. I've already ordered a 2400mah battery from elsewhere.
