Really Disparaging Comments About Android

There were some really disparaging comments about Android being made at the TechCrunch Mobile Roundtable yesterday.

What do developers here think about this?

It doesn't really matter. I have yet to talk to a developer that is discouraged by it.

this is just techies suckling at the teet of apple, if you want an iphone so bad, you can probably put a theme on the phone to make it look like an iphone

I bet you these people will come back in a couple of months raving about how good the phone operates and how it can be a game changer. Myself, i can't wait to get a chance to play around with the different applications that came out of the google developer challenge.

I've also read some blatant lies and fabrications around the net about android. Its really irritating. I reeeaaally wanted to lay into this idiot in the comments but that meant i had to sign up just to do it, not worth it.

I was wondering about the virus thing, i'm not too familiar with how the open source works, is there going to be chances of viruses?

Since it is based on Linux OS, you don't have to worry about virus. In fact, there's very little virus on Linux OS on how it was made.

So if they program Android OS good, you don't have to worry about virus.

Most of the negative comments that I have read, are simply on how the G1 looks.. Every comparison that I have seen between the G1 and the Iphone almost make them sound pretty equal.. Giving Android kudos here and Apple kudos there.. But for some reason, it seems the only that thing the haters have to hate is purely aesthetic..

Personally I have a clunkier Chinese knock off phone that everyone loves.. When I get my G1 they will flip!!
Sure its a bit larger than the Iphone, but that does not bother me in the least..

All and all, I can not wait to get mine!! I'll let me be the judge when it is in my hands..

(btw.. I really do not feel like watching a two hour video at 2 in the am)
