Default Question about new Android Phones ??

I have T-Mobile and I keep looking at all the new Android phones coming out for other carriers. I know Sprint and Verizon are CDMA and T-Mobile and AT&T are GSM. Are most phones only made to work on one network or do they usually make the same model phones in each network type?

Is there are list somewhere of which are CDMA and which are GSM.

    Thanks in advance.

As a rule of thumb, most phones that are made around the world are GSM because most of the world is GSM. Nokia makes very few phones for Sprint and Verizon (if any) because they would have to design their phones around both technologies, but if you go pretty much anywhere outside of North America, Nokia is the number 1 handset manufacturer. They jam out a million phones a WEEK.

As far as a list, who knows? If you're interested in a specific phone, you can sometimes go to the manufacturer's web site to see what type of radio(s) it has in it. Here's HTC's hero spec sheet:
    http://www.htc.com/www/product/hero/specification.html
Notice that it lists CDMA and GSM.

    That's my 2 cents.

MeMongo covered it well. You really have to decide what you need, honestly, rather than just chasing a tech that seems cool at the moment. I will only own GSM as I travel a lot outside the country. Also, you need to look in depth at features rather than just the "spec sheet". The G1 claimed it had a pop three app on board -- and it does, but it sucks. It does have Bluetooth, but without root you cannot transfer files using it. So, as I want to stay with T-Mobile, AND I actually want a phone that has real smartphone features, I'll be looking closely at the Nokia N900 which works in both international 3G and T-Mo's. Is it Android? Who cares..?

I am really just trying to find out what Android phones that are out or coming out T-Mobile might pick up. I like T-Mobile, I have 5 lines and pay $160 a month. If I didn't have a smartphone (G1), I would be paying about $130 a month.

I like Android. I have had the G1 since the initial release and I think it has progressed nicely so far. But, I will always be looking for the best operating system available.

There are a few unannounced (or announced but with no details) phones coming from Acer, Asus, and HTC over the next few months, so you might want to just wait, but just like everything technology related, there's always something coming down the road. My suggestion with T-Mob is that you just get a MyTouch or the Cliq if you need one right now, or wait for the Acer Liquid to make it here to the U.S.

You should look at the N900. It's coming to Tmobile eventually, nobody has announced it yet. I'm waiting for that phone.

The new HTC HD2 is rumored to be going to T-mobile. Looks like an awesome android phone equipped with the new Snapdragon 1ghz processor.
