    Thumbs up Re: PUK locked

Just wanted to say thank you for the help. Was an idiot tonight and PUK locked my phone, so call AT&T and they give me the code. I try to just input it and nothing...First try with this and everything is great now, as long as you read the whole thread. The info about entering it into the emergency dialer would have been something to put in the original entry. Ah well...It happens, thanks again tho. For those reading, it works. Follow the directions exactly in the emergency dialer screen.

Get your PUK code from your provider.

Get the screen where you are told the PUK needs to be entered and using the keyboard type:

    **05*<PUK Code>*<enter a new pin>*<confirm the new pin>#

That will simultaneously unlock the phone and set up the PIN code.
    It works perfectly, Thanks buddy...

the "**5* etc." work arround works.
I have a Europe bought HTC hero, rooted, running Android 2.2. Now I moved to the US and am using T-Mobile.

This code also allows you to set a PIN and therefore to PIN-lock your phone, even if that's not foreseen by the carrier, as it is the case with T-Mobile in the US. The peeps at the store told me, that they could not generate a PIN-Code for me. Now I did it myself!

Thanks a lot, was very helpful.

I have a HTC DESIRE, Did the same as everybody else, and yes you can unlock from a puk code lockout. It worked for me.
    Basically do this:
Touch the Emergency call button at the bottom/middle of screen of your phone and enter this with the keypad
(you may have to call or do an online chat with your network first to get your PUK code) ---------------------------->

    **05*<PUK Code>*<enter a new pin>*<confirm the new pin>#

    Example input: **05*123456789*1234*1234#

Thank the lord for this thread

I have just spent 40 mins with t-mobile customer services with tHem scratching their heads and I am still on hold with the tech support as they don't seem to know either and I want to let them know what I did.

Update - tech support came back to me with the same solution sourced from this thread!
