    Default Problem w/ GPS

The GPS shows that I'm in Ontario, Canada... but I'm in Long Island, NY. That's waaaay off and its been like this for ~24 hours now.

Any fixes? I uninstalled Radar, NavNow (?), and Zombies, Run! to try to fix this problem...

Mine was a bit daft today, but not in the range of "incorrect country", more like a few blocks north-west of my actual location.

Have you tried turning on "Use wireless networks" under the security &locations settings. It says that it helps narrow down your location by wifi and/or mobile netorks.

Some of you folks aren't actually using GPS. You're using the approximate GPS *only,* which as, pancit175 says, uses the cell phone towers. If you have actually turned on GPS, and you are OUTSIDE (you HAVE to be OUTSIDE), and there's a clear line of sight to the sky, then GPS should be accurate to within an arm's reach.

To verify that GPS is turned on, go to the Settings app, select Security & Location, and check BOTH Use wireless networks and Enable GPS satellites. They should have green check marks in the boxes.

Yeah, there's now way for GPS to be that far off, with a decent fix quality. When you zoom out, you can see a grey circle, which is G's way of showing the area of uncertainty. If it just *barely* bigger than the blue dot itself, AND the gps icon at the top of the screen is NOT blinking, then you have a good fix and there is no way for it to be that far off. I've been using GPS for years, and as long as you have a good fix, it will be VERY accurate. Now, you say you were in Ontario. Was it consistently in Ontario? I mean, like at the same street address? Not moving at all? Or was it bouncing around like miles at a time around the Ontario area?

Turn off the option to use cell towers and wifi to find location. With that option on my phone was always defaulting to that before it got a GPS signal and it would show me way off, usually where ever the nearest cell tower was. With just GPS on it takes longer to get a signal(it does work inside if you give it plenty of time) but it usually shows me within 10 feet(20 to 30 when I am inside).
