Phone keeps powering down. AHHHH! (and what's with call quality?)

I want to love it, but it's like that girlfriend who cheated on me...

My phone keeps powering down. When I slide out the keyboard, when I set it down for awhile... I look at it and realize that it's off. When I try to turn it back on... nothing! Have to remove the battery and replace, then power on. I have a black and a bronze but only having trouble with the bronze. Anyone else?

Also, call quality is pretty sad (here in Lawrence, KS). Never noticed any static on my Dash! I was on hold with T-Mobile for 30 minutes before giving up.

my phone completely stopped working yesterday after 5 hour use . i did everything possible. when i went to the t-mobile store the guy working there told me his friend that works at another t-mobile store had the exact same issue.

but atleast you can turn yours back on. you might have to return it though unless it's just a defected battery.

depending on how long yo have to wait in order for the phone to completely turn off by itself, you can probably go to the neartest t-mobile store and see if they can try a different battery to see if it has the same problem .

happened to me for the first (and second) time today.... although I have had it for weeks without issue.. i'm thinking it might be related to the missed call app... but i'm not sure.. if it continues I will do a restore.

I've had my G1 for a month now and in the last week, I've had to remove the battery and restart the phone at LEAST 30 times. It's way past annoying and I'm going back to T-Mobile tomorrow to find out what the problem is.

Never had this problem. I also have the missed call app for 3 days now. No problems there too.
No defect battery problem. Definitely no call quality problems for me (houston,tx)

I also think it was because of the missed call app. My phone kept restarting every time I turned it on. Removed the battery and haven't had the problem since.

So I've had my G1 for about 2 weeks now. The only issue I've been experiencing is that randomly it will turn off, and no matter what I can't turn it back on unless I plug it into a USB plug in. The strange part is that the phone does not have to stay plugged in, I'll connect it for literally one second and hold power and it will turn right on, then randomly again later it will shut off and I'll have to plug it in again. Might anyone know of any reasons as to why this would happy?

i have had this phone for about two weeks now. i use it HEAVILY and i am a geek for a living. i haven't experienced ANY OF THE ISSUES outlined in this post. these are not part of the expected user-experience, so i would first make sure it's not just "you." if not, go to a T-Mobile store and reproduce the issue(s)...would be my suggestion.

I have had my G1 since 1 week prior to the official release date and it just started turning itself off.

The only time it does this is when I open the keyboard too fast (if that's possible, the phone should be able to handle the keyboard swinging open). I think it has something to do with the power button being on the receiving end of the force of the screen popping open.

Anyway, it isn't THAT big of a deal.....just something else for me to ad to my list of quirky little gripes I have about this phone.

PLEASE GIVE ME INTERNAL MEMORY RELIEF!!

And like the girl who seems more interesting and less resistable the more you look at her . . . give your G1 another week, you will figure out the quirks and learn to love everything else.

Dude, where did you get the avatar. Was that from the BK/Simpsons "Simpsonize Me" web app from last year? If so, you/it did a pretty good job. Or did you do it by hand?
