Today, I recharged my g1 and it got realy hot, there was a Red light at the speaker. So I unplugged it, and it didn't boot up and that red light was flashing! What happened? Can I fix this?

The G1 (HTC Dream) does get quite warm when being used under heavy load and charging. The heat seems to come from the "chin" area underneath where the buttons are.

Even after hours of heavy use while charging, it never gets hot enough to cause me any real concern. Sure, it's very warm, even what some people would call hot, but not enough to hurt or damage electronics. I'd guess it's about 40C / 104F.

Some people who have rooted their phones sometimes overclock their phones too - there is an app on the market to do this. Of course, I'd argue that the phone was underclocked for a good reason, and was designed around that speed in terms of power conduits, power load, maximum battery drain, maximum heat dissipation, etc. and just like you wouldn't overclock your CP without improving the cooling, I wouldn't overclock my phone without improving the cooling either, and you can't, so I don't.
