    Default No vibration for texts

I've had my G1 for about a week now, and I love it. The only problem I'm having is that when my phone is set to vibrate it won't notify me of texts. I've gone into the messages settings and turned on vibrate, but that only works when the phone's ringer is turned on. Is there any way to have the ringer turned off and have the phone vibrate for texts?

you can turn the volume al the way down and then click it once up and that is the vibrate feature
that should have it vibrate when you get a text

I've tried that and I even use the toggle settings app that allows me to directly set the ringer state, and while it vibrates when I get a call, it does not when I get a text.

first go in to the the messaging press "MENU","Settings", scroll down to Notifications settings(its a title) there's a box for vibrate press it and then were all good(happened to me too for like the first hour or two trying to fugue it out(the vibration)

Yeah, I've done that. Vibrate is selected. It's just not vibrating. I've read a few other forums and other people are having the same problem. I'm starting to think it's an OS issue.

doesn;t SILENT mean silent? as in no noise what so ever? i don;t remember any other phones vibrating while silent .. maybe because u can set each setting custom.. ie (phone ringer silent, mesaage vibrate)

but maybe on the android silent means SILENT! haha..

i;m not that picky..but i hope your find your answer

EDIT: just tried it on my phone.. it doesn;t vibrate when in silent mode.. but vibrates in vibrate mode ; >

my bad.. u don;t have to seem angry..

reinstall your firmware.. unless ur on RC30 already and not have root access. try finding the stock RC30 file and recovery your phone.

There is the vibrate setting for the phone itself, and then a vibrate setting for messages. Make sure the Messages Vibrate setting is turned on. It is off by default and does NOT change when you change the ring option (or volume) using the outside buttons.

    As mentioned, its:
Messaging -> Menu -> Settings -> Vibrate (very bottom)
