No 3G coverage anywhere near my area.

since i got no 3G coverage in my area, i must use EDGE instead. Is EDGE free or is there an equivalent charge?

EDGE is just as much as 3G, at least compared to what I am paying now...$19.99 for Total Internet Add-On + $14.99 unlimited messaging = $34.98 ...this is approximately how much the same bundle costs for the G1.

No 3G plans have been announced for my area either. But with wifi it's not so bad.

The lack of 3G in my area is why I don't want to have to pay the $35 per month. On EDGE, it just isn't worth it IMO. I might just try to buy one and pay retail price and try to get the $5.99 hack to work.

thats what im thinking too. they should have the $5.99 available to the G1 since its their short comming to provide 3G.
