new SD card problem

allllllll righty.

i bought a class 2 8gb micro sd. and i cant get my computer to recognize the card when mounted or plugged into a sd card reader. but the g1 reads it.

the 1gb that came with my g1 works for both the computer via g1 mounted and through a card reader. and i have used that card to root my phone from rc30 to jf1.31


problem is i want to switch from the 1gb to the 8gb as my regular card but i cant get my old info and pics and music onto the new 8gb card. has anyone had this problem? or any success on making them work?


more info: i went to best buy and bought a 2nd 8gb micro that was the exact same and had the same problem.
the g1 finds both of the 8gb cards and it says they both have about 7500mb aval. space left.

Most likely the card reader doesn't read SDHC cards. Buy a new card reader or mount the phone with a USB cable.

it doesnt find the 8gb when mounted unlike the 1gb

the card reader is probably too old though, but i shouldnt have to use a reader since i have the phone and a usb

eh... i got the first one from amazon for like $13
then after the problems i was having i used a gift card i had lying around to buy anther, to see if it was the card or the computer. i returned the best buy card today. still have the other 8gb though

yep. but i should note that after i rooted my computer doesnt like me plugging in the g1 and tells me it needs to install crap for it to work. if i ignore that i can still get into the 1gb mem card and access all of the files on it

You have a problem somewhere but if you want an easy bypassl, get a new card reader. Make sure it can read SDHC cards and you'll be set.

Maybe you should install the "crap" maybe it's a driver you need or something for SDHC support.

I'm, sure you problem lies with SDHC support.
