I know, I know do a search... But I need help getting root on my MyTouch. Just had my G1 go out about a week ago so I decided to get a Mytouch. I rooted the G1 following the forum instructions, but come to find out I was running a outdated Rom, ect.
(Also I would like to thank everyone that tried to help me fix my G1 on these forums the other week.(Simms22-Prettybow85712-ggrant3876-ECT.)
So since this phone is new I want to do it right. Can I get the links to all the things I need to do. I keep hearing about Cyanogen Rom? Can I get a step by step root instructions, and what roms or rom I should use. I really just want to be able to do the tethering, and the whole zoom thing like the iphone, apps to sd card. But if I can get some help I would really appreciate it. Last time when I had my G1 rooted I got alot boxes popping up on my phone saying app, or browser had to close, so I dont know if that was my mess up, so I just want to do it right, so please be easy on meguys....
Thank's..............

Also is this the only way to tether internet with this phone?
I just got a myTouch a week ago, and did not use any goldcard method. In fact, I didn't even hear about that until after my phone was rooted.

Took me about an hour to read that and get the guts to go through with it, but once I found the guts it took about 15 min to get a much faster Cyanogen ROM and I've been happy since.
I used the one-click flasher, and went to CyanogenMod 4.0.4 (latest stable version)

It was so easy that I then went on to CyanogenMod 4.1.11.1 (latest experimental version)
