I wonder alot of things about this os and the g1..
including things dealing with, how do they expect the market place to grow, if everyone is restricted with such small storage space.. My number one complain overall is google and tmobiles lack of communication with its customers...
but...i wonder about cupcake, After reading the roadmap, and watching the process...hearing that its only a alpha?, if that was the case, what was it before it was even added to the main branch? super mega alpha? Its making me wonder... if google is taking not only what was in cupcake, but other things as well, and trying to package not only what we know might be coming, but other unannouced things... hearing that flash was supposed to availble for all smart phones this summer, but already know that it was working on a g1 pretty well last november.. The annoucement of the palm pre.... it makes me wonder, will we get shafted by tmobile? will tmobile grab the cupcake and shave a few sprinkles off to us g1 users? Or is google making sure we get the whole cupcake with even more sprinkles than we think? could it be possible our ota could be cupcake, flash, sd card storage and more?... or are we gonna be just let down? either way, this phone is still a good phone... but it has so much more potential, and with the phone market growing each day, this isnt something that can be slept on... any opinions?

I agree the lack of communication is annoying, and i too cant believe will are stuck with just the phones memory for apps.Released to early i think and updated too slowly. The fact that flash has been demonstrated to be working on the G1 is REALLY bugging me! Id stop my whinging if they released it.
I love this phone, and the OS, but slowly....im starting to drift from it. Its just becoming too unreliable and boring.
im kinda in the same boat with you...
but my biggest fear is to sell my g1... then a couple months later i, after i have gotten a new phone, the update comes out and android starts kickn @$$ again... then i will look and feel stupid...
so the best thing to do is just wait b/c you can get upset and ditch you phone now but you might regret it in a month or two...
Just curious here, why do you say it is becoming unreliable and boring?
Are you just bored with the apps or has the chatter and anticipation for the new features in “cupcake” made you bored with what you have?
What is unreliable about it? Is it more unreliable now than when you first got it, or always been unreliable?
I’m not being critical of what you have said at all; I’m just curious as to why you and others seem to be disenchanted with the G1.
Im beginning to feel the same way my friend. I am one of the biggest advocates for android that i know(hell ive only seen two other g1s besides mine), but your right it is starting to become well, boring. I get the feeling more and more everyday that google and tmobile are getting ready to shaft g1 adopters by releasing a new android phone that has all things cupcake while leaving the g1 to fade away. The potential is endless for the g1 if but a few obvious omissions were addressed by google and tmobile. I dont post here too often anymore due to how stale the android os is starting to become. Dont get me wrong I love my phone and android its just hard to sit back and watch the palm pre and the webOS and not wonder where android is headed exactly. Keeping the dream alive though
Honestly the storage is my number 1 issue with the phone, at least for me. I could care less about video and the other stuff cupcake is supposed to add. It would be great and all but the storage is what is really messing with me. I keep running out of space just browsing the internet. That is just plain jive. I am not paying for one single app til they get this fixed. I really don't have space to install much anyhow.
And what do you even know about the Palm Pre and the webOS? What you've seen in a few videos of crap moving around the screen?
I'm willing to bet anyone money that the webOS is going to be a flop. It won't live up to the hype and the pre will fade into the background. It will never be a big contender. And you can quote me on that 6 months after it's actually launched.
