Honestly don't know why it does this, but I can tell you that the length of the mp3 doesn't matter. I had a 3 second mp3 sound clip as my ringtone for a while, and it still had the slight gap between it starting to vibrate and play the tone.
So I love having my favorite song as my ring tone, but i noticed that if I set a regular mp3 (from the media player) as my ringtone it takes several seconds for it to load and start playing when I receive a phone call.
I was wondering how to fix this?
Is this because the file is to large, ie. i need to make the song shorter?
Or is it because the mp3 format just takes to long to decode and start playing, ie. i need to change sound format / lower kbps?
thanx for the help!

sounds like the file is large and maybe your SD card is slow.
use a tool to cut it short and lower bitrate. should do the trick.
you can also make a folder "ringtones" on your SD card and put it there.
that will make the song appear in your ringtone chooser dropdown box
