    Default Mega Memory Leap

So I was downloading a couple of apps on my phone, and i have a bunch now, 20 or so, and I was getting down to about 24 MB. I was like whatever, I'll just uninstall apps I get bored of later. Then, literally, overnight, I went to bed and woke up only to find my phone's memory jumped from 24 MB to 48 MB. A perfect double. Anyone know what this is due to? I've had RC33 for quite a while before this so I doubt it affects it. Just curious.

And I also want to know, but I'm really, scared, is rooting your phone worth it, and if I brick my phone am I done? Will i have to get a new phone? Rooting seems awesome, but I'm scared to do it, hah, I'm really not a good hacker.

Btw I'm a new user! Whoa that was a proliferation of ideas...

If you are going to take the time to take advantage of all the things rooting can provide you with, it's totally worth it. Moving apps to the SD card, cache to SD, etc. If you're just gonna root and let it sit, don't waste the time.

I rooted my G1 following the instructions here and got it perfect first time. From what I understand it's pretty hard to brick a G1 if you follow the steps.

    Welcome to the community...

No, you won't "Brick" your phone if you decide to "Root"

Most of us questioned are hacking skills before trying, but with help from the community all is well.

To answer the memory jump question, well just be happy it happened <---

You have to try real hard in order to brick the phone, you have a 1 out of a 1000 chance of bricking the phone, not that easy.

Go ahead and flash it to RC29, if you decide not to go forward with rooting, then you can always let the phone update itself.

I think the memory jump could be the Android Market clearing its cache so it opened more memory for your phone.

and like others says, root is like very very easy to do and your chances of brinking your phone are very slim.

take the plunge if you want.

    I'll say this:

52 apps / 63mb of free internal memory

    Well worth it!!!

I think rooting is the easiest thing to do. but moving apps to the sdcard is very hard for me. the paragon app is confusing and i lost almost all memory on my 8gig card
