Maximum Ram for Android OS?

Maybe I'm missing something... Maybe it's the manufacturer that is...

Why did the manufacturers of Android phones... all have crappy amounts of RAM...
I have yet to see even one with 512 MB of ram...
So really.. I ask again am I missing something?
Do devices with 528 GHz processors (Qualcom) have the maximum capacity of 256 mb? Do I need to wait for snapdragon devices?
Is it the hardware? or is it the Software?
Which is the cause of this ****ty hardware spec combination... I need to know...
Is a 1ghz processor with 512mb ram asking to much?
DAMN it! I've been patiently watching the feeds for any news on new phones.. before 2009 is out... where is the android flood? Give me my great selection damnit!!!

Well I'm not phone expert but I don't think there are to many phones out there with 512 RAM 1G processor
