    Default Manufactures Warranty?

Does anyone know anything about the length of the manufactures warranty. I'm sure we can get equipment protection from Tmo, but will it kick in after the manu warranty or right away.

generally the manufactors warranty is 1 year. The warrenty tmobile offers is only for damage, lost or stolen only. It doesnt cover any problems with the phone after the manufactors warranty is up. (which is 1 year after purchase) Maybe the G1 will be different and have a longer warranty but I wouldnt get my hopes up. Im pretty bad about phones normally I sell or upgrade way before the year is up. But im sure im not the only one who has got to have the lastest and greatest. This new G1 should last my awhile (I hope or rather my fiance does)

So lets say that theres a manufactures defect after 1 year, not damage caused by yourself. There would be no coverage under either one.

This is the scam all cellphone companies run. One year warranty and two year contract equals people will probably have to drop some loot in the 2nd year of thier contract either to get another phone (at retail price) or to migrate to another carrier and pay the termination fee.

yep exactly. I dont really mind/care about paying the higher prices for the phones. But yes thats true after the manufactors warranty is up anything that happens to the phone isnt covered. Also to note say you have a problem with your phone and get a new one sent out the warranty doesnt restart ( speaking from experience) It goes from the original date of purchase not when the last time you had one send out/replaced. Just letting everyone know in case they were unaware of this

Under T-mobiles equipment protection, what does the term "damage" actually cover. Would that be if you drop your phone or something like that.

Luckily, with T-mobile, when my phones broke, each time I was given a 90 day warranty extension on the replacement (reconditioned) phone. So if you are "lucky" to have phones break AGAIN and AGAIN before the warranty is up, you can keep getting new phones for free.

So after 1 year if theres a manu defect, I'll just run my car over it and send it back to them in pieces in order to be covered.
