I wasn't able to make calls for about a half hour but I didn't check the internet. Probably because so many people were calling and texting to wish each other a happy new year.
Happy New Year to everyone. At 12am Jan 01 I lost phone and edge or 3g service for 50 minutes. My edge or 3g still isn"t showing but phone is now working. My roomate have yet to regain anything as of yet. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Still no edge or 3g. My roommate still have nothing. I took out my sim. Waited a while put it back in and still no edge or 3g. I wonder if this is just with the G1?
I think what it is, is that T-mobile on purpose does this so their network doesnt get flooded, and it will return to normal in a few hours. with all the cALLS that people make, it is something that they must control inorder to keep their networks working. if not, with the amount of calls from each cell tower, it will wrect their network.
If there was an emergency I could not call anyone. Making me wonder about Tmobile. If they can't handle News Years Eve or New Years calls. Make me wonder are they capable of handling numerous emergency calls. Thank you for shedding some light.
Every carrier has outages on new years, no one can make calls, not even from land lines to cell phones. Can you imagine how many people are calling at that same exact moment?
Yeah Thats why I think that T mobile does this on purpose, cancels out the service for a limited amount of time, therefore not allowing people to call other than make emergency calls. If they allowed this then the network would just crash because of the load it is taking in... kinda like website, if too many people access it at the same time, it will slow down and crash.
T-Mobile wouldn't turn off service to reduce load. Very likely if you are in a dense area the towers were just overwhelmed.
Give me rep
Not sure if it was a coincidence but this morning I woke up and my comcast cable was down...but I think it was my T-Mobile / Linksys / @Home router that was actually down. I restarted it and now my internet is back and working fine.
