try menu>settings>wireless controls>mobile networks, and switch on&off (or off&on) "use only 2G."
should reacquire a signal.
oh, you might also try "network operators" in the same settings area.
I have a problem with my HTC Magic, I frequently loose signal due to working in a laboratory which obviously has a lot of metal/lead etc built into the walls to prevent radiation/the spread of fire should it occur.
Coming out of such an environment to an area I know has signal should pick up the network connection (phone/data) but for some reason it does not. The only way around this issue is to re-boot the phone which is not ideal as it takes a fair about of time to reboot an android phone. If I leave the phone on for a long period of time (say about 10 minutes after coming into an area with signal) I will often pick up a roaming connection from another provider so the connection is active but it wont pick up my provider.
I was wondering if anyone has seen this? If not I would consider taking it back to Vodafone and getting it exchanged but the fact that it does pick up a roaming connection suggests it might be a software related problem hence the reason for asking here.
