Default Looks like android is coming to the iphone

Just checked Digg this morning, and one of the top stories was iphone hackers have dual booted linux to the iphone.

    http://linuxoniphone.blogspot.com/20...on-iphone.html

So, as the article says that the next step is getting touchscreen, wifi etc. working and then porting android. It looks like its also possible to technically dual boot any other mobile os as well.

I doubt any iPhone user would want to use android. Its kind of like the Palm vs Blackberry thing, ya know? Maybe its just me, 'cause my best friend has the 3G and he hates my phone, and I get bored w/ the iPhone. I had like 4 of them things and I was still bored!

Upon further reading it will be possible to dual boot android, windows mobile, blackberry or any other mobile OS. So say I wanted to go on android I just restart the iphone and then I will get a choice between whatever OS i have installed, so you could have every mobile OS and just pick which one you want on startup.

main problem i see is that with the lack of a usable one screen keyboard, this is pretty much useless...as of now. However this would probably speed up a programmer writing one in

The iPhone Dev Team is huge, and there is thousands of iPhone hackers so an onscreen keyboard would not take them very long, as they would probably implement multi-touch as well. Every time there is an update to the iPhone the dev team have a jailbreak release for it in hours, so I don't think it would be that long for them to implement a keyboard. When android is ready for iphone, hopefully it will be a tad smoother in general use as iphones CPU clocks in at 620MHz, so it should speed it up. And there is also the possibility of over clocking too. This will probably benefit android a lot with extra development going to it as it really needs a boost.

Duh, they had paid apps right on launch of the app store. Basically all of their higher quality games are paid apps. Though there are some decent ones for free.

No...actually the iphone 3G cpu clocks in at only 412 MHz. It's capable of up to 620 at a serious expense of battery life, but it is clocked to 412. - substantially slower than the G1.

But it wont be under-clocked in the android partion, as the iPhoneOS is the one that brings it down to 412MHz. Yes, it will affect the battery life, but not hugely.
The dev team have bypassed the iBoot, so any limitations to hardware access are simply not there anymore. Even the GSM radio is open, which will be locked on the G1 as the makers could get into serious trouble by carriers.
If they run the iPhone at the full 620MHz, it will affect the battery, but it will probably be equal to the G1s battery life. Thats some serious power for a phone
