No one has seen this yet? Am I going crazy?

So I finally got Cupcake. Like it a bunch. I went to turn on the Wireless Location part of the Power Manager for giggles and it was asking about signing up for anonymous info to be sent to Google's Location something or other.
Anyone know what this is about?
I'm not sure I could love a human child as much as I love my G1

It's fine, it caches your location for faster look ups and sends your towers information to triangulate your position. Therefore, you're sending it "anonymous data".
It's fine to accept unless you're paranoid that big brother is watching you, etc etc. It's mainly to state that you'll be sending Google positional data, and that's about it. It's to cover their asses![]()
If you use google sync you are already in the clouds, so no problem.

Yeah, before it used client-side calculating (on your phone). It now uses AGPS, your towers, and some other articles of information to do the calculation which uses more CPU than before and is far more accurate. So Google with their amazing amount of servers is doing all the heavy lifting for you now, to preserve battery life and time.
It also caches it for others so the decoding is a lot quicker. Basically, it's the way it should've been done from the start![]()
so...... lol
