    Default language packs?

Just ordered a G1 for my wife, the order went through so I guess they
    still have some left!
My wife is from China and I was just wanted to know if there are any
language packs available. She knows English well but always emails
her friends back home in Chinese.

I know the Droid font for Android supports Chinese, so you should be able to read the emails at least:

Haven't heard of any multilingual support for the phone in terms of input though, so most likely it will be third party.

There is some work being done on Chinese input by developers:

There is an existing Chinese Android Developer Community so they might make one too:

Also China Mobile is slated to have an Android phone, so Chinese support might come soon.

I hope so! her laptop runs xp and the language packs are easy!
One shift and she's typing pinyin or English. Just sucks if she can't
email home when she's on the road.

    @ loustrk
Before I forget, as a temporary measure before developers develop Chinese input, since Android has copy & paste for text fields you can google "online chinese input" and there are a couple of websites which feature javascript based chinese input. So you might be able to use that and just copy the Chinese text into the email from the text box after typing it up at those websites.
