    Default Lagging on Steroids

    I've never had a replacement G1.

I love the phone and everything. It does what I need to do.

But recently my phone has been RIDICULOUSLY laggy.

I try to pull down the notification tab and it literally took 10 seconds for it to come down.

I've restarted the phone about 8 times today.

It goes away when i turn it off and on but comes back later shortly.

    I've cleared history and cache.

is there anything i can do to stop the HOME SCREEN from foreclosing, and the touch responsiveness from moving at grandpa snail pace?

Have you cleared out your text messages? I've heard that too many texts cause the phone to lag.

Reboot the phone, as in return it to the way you first got it...

and psshhh it'll delete everything, return the phone to the same settings as you first brought it

Definitely a "solution", but the thing is... This shouldn't be a problem in the first place. Sure, all electronics can benefit from a complete "format"... Don't get me wrong - I format my PC every couple of months... But a phone shouldn't have to be formatted every 2 months in order to be in a healthy state...

My phone was doing that all day yesterday... I thought it was because I was letting it run all day without charging it and I was at 15%- you know the whole battery thing - anyways, so yea. Another thing was the touch response while having a glove on, usually it responds even if I have a glove on but not today. Did the same, cleared cache, text, etc etc etc... not going to do a factory reset either, don't think I have to. OH! I too have not replaced my phone, haven't had anything wrong except for this now.

My phone was lagging horribly for the last 2-3 days. I thought about what programs could be running processes in the background, and the main one that I thought of was the Selfhelp app, which keeps track of your minutes/texts used (even though I have unlimited text/1000 minutes).

So I set options in the program to not poll or get resources at all, and voila, no more lag. Now my phone is running fine. That's one of the very few flaws with open source, is that sometimes you don't get the most sound and competent coding for the hardware. there might be a bug in the software that's causing a resource drain, or even a memory leak.
