Default just rooted, and I'm getting two email, two messaging & two video icons on menu

I just rooted yesterday using the instructions @:

    http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.ph...to_CyanogenMod

I didn't notice this at first, but after rebooting my phone I'm now getting two email icons, two messaging icons & two video icons on my menu.

I'm thinking the following might explain why that is happening, but somebody (more knowledgeable than I) can hopefully confirm.

I tried using the cyanogenmod.com instructions (in the link above), but when i got to step 12 "Download the new recovery image from FlashRec (the default URL is for CM-1.4, leave it alone)" the space where the URL should be was blank, I was confused to I just hit the button backup my system and then rebooted in recovery mode...needless to say I didn't get the Cyanogen recovery screen, but the google recovery screen.

I figured the reason I wasn't able to flash the new ROM was because there wasn't something in the url of FlashRec program....so I downloaded version 1.1.2. (instead of the most recent version which is what the instructions say to do...the most recent was/is 1.1.3.). I deleted 1.1.3. from my sd card and put 1.1.2. in but I didn't start over from step 1 (which means I didn't run COC10 build- sappimg.nbh- again), but just installed the 1.1.2. (which did have the url for Cyanogen rom), downloaded the rom and flashed the new recovery image. Rebooted and it the recovery screen noted it was Cyanogen.

From there, I followed the rest of the steps on the update guide (listed below):

    File Download

Due to recent events, CyanogenMod can no longer distribute Google specific apps with his ROMS. The way around this is to download and install the legal Google apps and then install CyanogenMod on top of those apps. The good news is that it works, the bad news is that it requires an extra step or two in the install process. Most people will need only two files.

    1. Download the HTC Android 1.6 base image:

    2. Download the latest CyanogenMod ROM for your device:

    3. Put all necessary files on your SD card

    [edit] Flash Android 1.6 & CyanogenMod 4.2.x/4.1.99+

You will now install the actual OS of the phone. First you will install the legal Google apps, and then you will install CyanogenMod on top of those apps.

    1. Turn your phone off.
    2. Hold the Home button while booting to get to Recovery mode.
    3. Select "wipe data/factory reset")
    4. Select "apply any zip from sd")
      • choose "HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip"

    5. Press home to confirm and let installation complete ('Formatting Cache' will stay at the bottom of the screen but once the menu reappears, the flashing is complete)
    6. STOP - DO NOT REBOOT YOUR PHONE
    7. Again, select "apply any zip from sd")
      • choose "update-cm-4.2.3.1-signed.zip"

    8. Press home to confirm and let installation complete
    9. When this is complete, reboot your phone by pressing Home & Back or selecting that option.
    10. Wait. This will take a couple of minutes. Be patient!

I guess what I'm asking, is do I need to start all over from the beginning? Any other reason why I'd be getting the same icons twice in the menu?

Thank you in advance, for anybody's help!!!
