In linux, for gnome desktop environment, there is an application to quick launch desired application. This saves much time one spends to browse through the menu.
I have 100s of applications installed on my x10 mini and it is very difficult to slide off menu pane after menu pane to launch an installed application.
Please suggest me one.
Why not make shortcuts to your frequently used applications on your home screen(s)? Or make a folder on your home screen and put shortcuts in there?
There is no such option in xperia x10 mini. There are widgets for some applications. They are the only shortcuts available.( the xperia mini UI is really a crap)
So you if you long-press any application, it doesn't let you drop the shortcut onto the home screen?
No. Longpressing only helps to re-arrange icons within the menu panes.
Ok, two more ideas...
Try long pressing on the home screen. Do you get an option to create a shortcut then?
Failing that, download the app Any Cut, it allows you to create more specialised shortcuts, but you can make normal ones to applications too by making a shortcut to an Activity.
Long-press didn't gave any options
And anycut is not available for xperia mini.
So lets wait till SE turns up with a solution
thanks for the quick reply.
No problem. I'm out of ideas.
Nothing personal against your phone, but not being able to make shortcuts sucks. I find it very surprising SE removed such a useful feature.
I would recommend using Google "Search" on your device. It allows you to type application names and launch them from search. You can also use voice search.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me
@bmcclure937 Thanks.Google search serves the purpose.
@Extorian This solves the issue we were after.
