    Question Increase performance when multi-tasking?

Ive own a G1 (rooted), myTouch 3G (rooted) and a HTC Hero... all these devices are great phones when compared to other non android phones in the same category. However, all these phones seem to lag when you run multiple applications; and not just some apps, all apps. When you use the iDon't this obviously is not a problem because you CANT run multiple apps but the apps run very well without any lag.

Now, in layman's terms can someone please tell me whether there is a way to option-out/disable multi-tasking and or increase the performance of multi-tasking and how?
