theres advanced task manager in the market
I'm sick and tired of booting up my phone and randomly seeing apps running when they shouldn't at all. I think there should be a rooted build that gives full control over apps and closing them completely upon exiting.
And if it gave control to delete stock apps I wouldn't mind that either.
Haha. I just don't understand why the alarm clock and calendar have to be running 24/7 365 days a year.
And maybe advance task killer has the option to block them, but preferably I use taskilla! :]
I GUESS I should throw in that these apps run when I'm not using them.
When I don't have a date in my calander, or an alarm set to go off. Etc.

If your calendar and alarm clock was not running at all in the back ground....
Then how will it know to notify you of upcoming appointments and wake you up at a specific time?
That's like saying you want a watch that doesn't run all the time. But you need to be able to tell time when ever you want to.....
Lmao
You have root. Kill process or go into your OS and start changing things. You do have the power you know.
Problem is with that much power you can really screw up your phone
It would be funnier if I was actually using those apps, but the analogy with the watch, yea I'll give it an lol :] I edited the main post informing these apps run when I don't have them set. Like an alarm to go off, or a date scheduled. These two apps I don't particularly use.
But I guess since my calender has christian holiday dates and what not it would run in the background.
Oh you bet I am messaging you soon! Lol and I don't think I'd get into too deeply that could ruin my phone, I always give the instructions a long read a few times before I'm good to go.
Exactly. I'd be afraid to be messing around with the calendar app, or any important background functions. What if the calendar app is tied into the clock in some way that the clock requires it to run? What if somebody's app used the calendar to get information about holidays or something. I dunno, like I said, I wouldn't mess with a function that was designed to be running the entire time, theres a reason it is.

And how would the calendar know you have nothing scheduled unless it sits in the background and talks to Google's servers periodically?
I'm sure you can spot a whole slew of processes running in the background (like that pesky "init" process that thinks its so cool or all those processes whose names end in "d"). They're not hurting anything so I suggest you leave things the way they are.
I blame this man for most programming problems.
Hmm.. Yea I've noticed how some apps tie into each other. But particularly I'm not using the g1 for location based things and social finders. I like my emulators and my phone running at its best.
But all in all. I guess if I remove a main function such as calenders I wouldn't be able to recover it with a hard wipe, or a maint build installation. hm..

you CAN remove stock apps. i removed amazon and music player from the build i'm running. with no issues. you could try removing things, and if something goes wrong, simply do a nandroid restore. thats one of the best parts of rooting--experimenting.
