Default How the G1 touchscreen works

Looking around in the interwebs, i came accross this article that talks about how the G1 and BB Storm UI touchscreen will work. Pretty interesting read if you've got a few minutes...

"A ClearPad sensor is typically placed over a viewable surface, such as an LCD. The underlying graphical user interface buttons and controls are activated by touch. ClearPad sensors are ideal for use with dynamic GUIs. The size and location of GUI controls can change according to application or mode of use."

"ClearPad technology supports a wide variety of advanced navigation methods and gestures for superior usability such as single-finger Tap, Double Tap, Tap & Hold/Tap & Drag, Scroll, Press, and Flick as well as multi-finger gestures such as Pinch. One-finger "flick" scrolling makes it quick and easy to navigate long lists. Two-finger "pinch" gestures can be used for zooming-in and zooming-out."

Interesting find. I hope multi touch is in the G1s future.

Multi Touch would be a nice addition, but it wouldn't bother me if the G1 never got it either...

I hope so too... And as long as the hardware supports it (which I think it does, but I don't know), I'm sure there will be some app released soon which enables it...

...as well as multi-finger gestures such as Pinch.
    Sweet .

There IS going to be multi-touch on the G1. The hardware and software can support it, it's just because of legal issues it's not enabled out-of-box.

G1 can support multi-touch, it's only a matter of time. Because we are crazy American Cowboys!

[EDIT] Oops, and Cowgirls... apologies ladies!

Thanks for the read man, it was very interesting.

as nice of a feature multi-touch seems to be, I'm not all that looking forward to it. if that was to be the only way to zoom in or out of the g1 i would not like it as much, only because it would make one hand operation a lot more difficult. It's fun, and interesting, but i feel like it would get obnoxious at times. anyone else agree?
