Help pls!!!

I bought an HTC Hero from carphonewarehouse with orange contract. The firmware version is 1.5 and the ROM version is 2.73.405.5. I heard that HTC has released firmware 2.1 but I got no update yet. I'm not sure if my HTC hero belongs to orange or not. Because I saw on the HTC support website that the latest Orange ROM version is 2.73.61.66. I try to download 2.73.61.66 with my serial number but it said the software is not suitable for my device.

Does anyone know which firmware upgrade I should expect to? Orange or HTC? How can I get my 2.1 firmware upgrade? Thanks.

Hi chesschi and welcome to the AC Forums.

If you bought the phone from anywhere other than Orange, then it won't be an "Orange" phone. You just have a normal phone that is using an Orange SIM. I'm the same right now - I bought a Samsung Galaxy S from the Carphone Wearhoue, and I'm with T-Mobile, but I have a Three SIM in it. The phone has no ties at all to T-Mobile or Three.

See if there's a non-Orange ROM available for it. Don't worry about putting the wrong ROM on it. The site won't let you download the wrong ROM, and even if it did the phone will not let you install any ROM that isn't specifically "signed" to upgrade your existing ROM correctly.
