A better analogy is a car that keeps going to the gas station and pumping gas when I don't want it to.
... anyway, getting back to APN, if I create an APN that is non-sense, how will that effect my calling ability overseas? In other words, will I still have, at least, a phone?
Thanks

Just install driodsans Tweak Tools Lite (in the market) and deactivate the APN. It works like a charm. Since I travel alot I do that when I go, granted I then have to rely on wi-fi, but whatever, its better than gettin huge bills at the end of the month.
(I'm not on tmo btw nor in the states so dont know if it would work then).
And the APN doesnt affect calling or texting at all.
Ok, according to Sittiphol, who makes the Droidsans Lite app, we can shut off APN, while roaming in Europe with a Tmobile (USA) phone, as long as the APN does not have T-Mobile prefix. But, they are working to over come this as well. (Thanks to Sittiphol Phanvilai).
However, not sure if this means the phone would still be able to jump onto a tmo APN when it found one... I'll ask...
